To prevent the coconut activated charcoal dust (which will not harm your pets) from shedding into the water, please soak the filter and the sponge in water for 15-20 minutes and rinse it thoroughly under running water before use. Depending on your pet's drinking frequency and the number of pets using the fountain, it's recommended to replace both the filter and sponge every 3-4 weeks to ensure proper maintenance of your pet fountain.
